It's almost as if the Democrats are going all in on dissing America and it's history. Too many socialist teachers for too long leads to this.

Quote:
A letter from Rep. Marcy Kaptur’s (D-OH 9) office reads,”…only services deemed essential for the safety of human life and protection of property will be continued.”

Yet, for a group of World War II veterans visiting the national memorial in Washington D.C., an all expense paid trip which is called an ”Honor Flight,” the shutdown was not stopping them from seeing the tribute that was inspired by them.

“It just goes to show you why we won World War II,” says Honor Flight of Northwest Ohio President Lee Armstrong.

Many elderly veterans, some in wheelchairs, broke through the barriers set up around the memorial, as police, park service employees, and tourists looked on. “The Germans and the Japanese couldn’t contain us. They weren’t going to let barriers contain them today. They wanted to see their memorial,” says Armstrong.

Honor Flight of Northwest Ohio has a trip scheduled to depart from Toledo next Wednesday, October 9.

“We will make the call this Friday to determine if the flight is still a go, or if we will have to re-schedule,” Armstrong explains.

He says they are considering going ahead with the trip even if the government is still on shutdown, but when he called the parks service, he was told they would face arrest. “I said, are you kidding me? You’re going to arrest a 90/91-year-old veteran from seeing his memorial? If it wasn’t for them it wouldn’t be there. She said, ‘That’s correct sir.’”

When Armstrong asked for her name, he says she did not give it to him and then promptly hung up the phone.

Gentlemen, he said I don't need your organization, I've shined your shoes
I've moved your mountains and marked your cards
But Eden is burning either brace yourself for elimination
Or else your hearts must have the courage for the changing of the guards.

I'm almost wondering if the greatest generation might have to pull our chestnuts out of the fire one more time.

Nope. The greatest generation, while swell in many ways, also gave the world the boomers, which objectively speaking is probably the worst generation to ever walk the earth at least if you measure in terms of destroying the legacy that was handed to them and poisoning the future of their descendants. I have no faith whatsoever in those who dropped the parental ball that badly.

But the whole raison d'etre of the boomers was to rebel against their parents. I wouldn't blame them too much. There is only so much you can do and then they are on their own. They've lived off the legacy of their parents and gotten away with so much irresponsibility because the depth of our accumulated wealth and position let them fritter it away without consequences. Until now. If I were to blame any generation I would blame the current one for not rebelling back against their Baby Boomer parents and force some accountability on them.

I thought that was the raison d'etre of every single teenage cohort. Takes some spectacularly bad parenting to produce an adult generation that keeps thinking and acting in that way beyond, say, 20.

It is, but this cohort had a system in place that insulated them from their rebellion in enough areas to prevent any negative feedback, like failure. Too much Peace and too much Prosperity and not enough realization that it's all so fragile.

Again, how stupid do you have to be to believe anything from FOX or the Daily Caller/

WWII Veterans Group: Park Service 'Bent Over Backwards' For Us

Jeff Miller, the co-founder of the Honor Flight Network, applauded the National Park Service on Wednesday for accomodating veterans hoping to visit the World War II Memorial, which had been closed as a result of the government shutdown.
“The Park Service they have been so compassionate, they have done everything they could,” Miller said, as quoted by the Washington Post. He added that the service “bent over backwards” to ensure that veterans were not dealt any additional inconveniences.
On Tuesday, veterans affiliated with the Mississippi Gulf Coast Honor Flight removed barriers at the Washington, D.C. memorial with the assistance of serveral congressmen. More veterans groups descended upon the memorial on Wednesday before the National Park Service announced that the veterans would be granted access to the open-air site.
Tea party lawmakers like Reps. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) and Louie Gohmert (R-TX) joined the veterans at the memorial on Wednesday, something that Miller suggested was unnecessary.
“We don’t need representatives, senators anybody here,” Miller told the Post. "We will be allowed to move the gate if there’s no one here and our veterans [can] go in.”
Republicans have tried to score political points off the ordeal. Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) said Tuesday that the government had deployed "goons" to deny veterans access, while Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) issued a statement Wednesday blaming the Obama administration for the closure.

Why do you think that your sources are to be believed and other's sources should be discounted? The liberal game of trying to diminish others is no longer working. Your team put up barriers on an open air monument specifically to try to inflict the pain of the government shut down on a bunch of old men who had proudly served their nation. It backfired on Obama's insufferable ass just like Harry Reid denying cancer treatment to a child is going to backfire. People are fast realizing how much damned government they can do without.

Well we know the Daily Caller paid prostitutes to lie, so tell me why the co-founder of the Honor Flight Network would lie.
