Close call; it's sorta like I say (said) you say (said) with all the ways we'd like it to turn out in our favor, or how we fear it may turn out and we're getting ready.

A person close to me has often in the past described strategies for dealing with other people in his business/social realtionships. He'd say: "and I said...yada yada yada" Knowing he was planning something, I'd ask "did you say that or do you just intend to say it?" ... and in about every case it was only intended not already done. He was rehearsing his interactions. I lack that ability to treat stress rehearsal situations as if they were already done, but I suspect it's effective to actually performing as one wills it to happen.
