Default Breaking Bad and Mad Men

Just got finished watching both these series on Netflix. Both were excellent. How does AMC produce such quality programs? They blow the networks away.

I keep hearing that both shows are great, but I'm just not that interested in checking them out. AMC did have a good show that I liked, called Rubicon. They cancelled it after the first season.

My favorite shows of all time are The Wire and Boardwalk Empire. Nothing else has come close, IMO.

I loved The Wire also.

Mad Men is outstanding.

There's a story behind AMC. They wanted to get paid more by the cable and satellite carriers, like HBO. HBO has been able to significantly jack up the price for their networks. AMC concluded that the reason why HBO was able to keep raising prices was because they were producing high quality shows such as The Wire and The Sopranos. So they tried to copy HBO. They've been jacking up the price of their networks and the carriers have been pushing back. But the carriers won't win. Cablevision threatened to drop AMC but they got so many calls, they caved. Now Echostar is trying to do the same. My guess is they will back down too.

Content is king.
